Working at GUREAK

If you have a recognised disability of more than 33% on the Certificate issued by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, come along to any of the GUREAK work centres to collect the occupation or employment request form.

A person from the Human Resources department will get in touch by telephone to arrange a meeting and interview for the purposes of obtaining further information; they will also give advice on occupation or employment activities, and on the type of activity best suited to the profile of each disabled person.

If you do not have a recognised disability, come along to any Kutxazeharo office for information on how to go about working for the Group.

The occupational service offers the option of integration and development in a working environment, so that, with the appropriate support, people with intellectual disability or mental illness may enjoy a full social and working life.

At GUREAK we believe that holding a job is the leading factor of social inclusion. In addition to giving the working person greater self-esteem, it also means that they are financially autonomous and have the freedom to make their own decisions and organise their own lives.

Ever since we started out, and still today, our principles have included the assertion that all people have the right to work, to fair pay, to be treated as adults with all of its consequences and to enjoy a rich and emotional life with no obstacles.

We believe in the ability of people. We don’t work on their disability or even give it much thought. The experience of GUREAK demonstrates that it is in fact very easy to find tasks and activities for people with disabilities to carry out.

You only have to believe in it.

Working at GUREAK means belonging to an organisation dedicated to generating job insertion opportunities and achieving the full social integration of people with disability. You will obtain permanent support and personalised attention to help you go about your activities. You will enjoy vocational training initiatives helping you to be a part of our company’s different processes.

Programmes such as PAUSOAK are an alternative to the current programme of occupational care offered by Gureak, and are particularly designed for people with intellectual disability

PAUSOAK

Programme intended to achieve integral development and quality of life for the collective of people with intellectual disability in the field of Occupational Care in Gipuzkoa.

As an alternative to the programme developed in the GUREAK Workshops Area, Pausoak offers a more care-driven idea of occupation, less productive, in close contact with nature, working to maintain and improve general skills and on personalised programmes. The programme takes place in the Arteaga Foundation’s Zabalegi estate in San Sebastian, which is on loan to GUREAK.

For more than seven years now, the SANMARKOSENE home and day centre, and the Amara Day Centre have been working to develop best practices in care for the elderly. Today they have 150 users between the home and the day centres which, among other services, provide complete medical care, a continuous nursery service, care services, a physiotherapy service, daily occupational therapy, a hairdressing service, a chiropody service and a home-cooked food service. Places are temporary or permanent, and private or subsidised.

  • Law 13/1982, on the Social Integration of People with Disability, LISMI, establishes that public and private companies with a staff of more than 50 people must take on no fewer than 2% of people with disability.
  • Law 50/98, of December 30th, amends the Law on the Social Integration of People with Disability and stipulates that, exceptionally, public and private companies may be partially or totally exempt from obeying the Law on the Social Integration of People with Disability (LISMI).

OTHER REFERENCE LEGISLATION

  • Royal Legislative Decree 5/2000 of 4th August. Defines failure to observe obligation of the 2% rule established by the LISMI or to apply alternative measures as being a serious offence.
  • Law 8/1988. Observing or failing to observe the Law on the Social Integration of People with Disability (LISMI) can limit or earn the company a higher or lower position in regard to contracts with the Administration or to requesting certain employment-promoting subsidies.

The Law on the Social Integration of People with Disability provides for exceptional alternative means. These are:

  • Communication to the competent public employment services or placement agencies of a vacancy in the event of being unable to find a suitable candidate with disability or if said candidate decides not to accept the offer.
  • In the event of companies proving the existence of productive, organisational, technical or economic reasons making it seriously difficult to incorporate people with disability to the company staff, the Public Employment Services will issue a Temporary Certificate of Exception.

OTHER REFERENCE LEGISLATION

  • Royal Legislative Decree 5/2000 of 4th August. Defines failure to observe obligation of the 2% rule established by the LISMI or to apply alternative measures as being a serious offence.

  • Giving donations or monetary sponsorship to an Association or Foundation of public utility with the social objective of, among others, vocational training, job insertion or the creation of employment for people with disability.
  • Constituting supported employment, having first of all signed the corresponding contract with a Special Employment Centre.

The steps to follow are:

  • Companies interested in benefiting from any of the alternative measures must request a declaration of exception from the public employment services.
  • The Directorate-General for Employment, which holds competence in the matter, or the placement agency, grants the certificate of exception.
  • Implementation of any of the Alternative Measures must be carried out while the Certificate of Exception is valid, and every year at least the amount stipulated for the purpose in the implementing regulation (Royal Decree 364/2005) must be dedicated to this concept.
  • Supported Employment is understood to be the contract between an ordinary company on the market or a collaborating company and a Special Employment Centre for the carrying out of work or services directly related to said collaborating company’s main activity, and for the purposes of which a group of workers from the Special Employment Centre temporarily move to the work centre of the collaborating company.
  • Managing and organising the work corresponds to a Special Employment Centre with which the worker will fully maintain their special working relations while the supported employment situation remains in place.

The financial sum assigned to said donation must be 1.5 times the annual Public Indicator of Multiple Effect Income (IPREM) for every person with disability not contracted within the 2% rate.

Hiring people with disability

From the Gureak Group we offer a training, guidance and placement or mediation service, in addition to advice for more personalised, extended employment situations.

Thanks to our different departments and projects, we have extensive knowledge of the collectives who receive these contracts and have developed the appropriate tools for implementing the process.

Participants are selected by our technical job guidance staff in close collaboration with the social services of the different Town Councils in the places where the projects are to be located.

The idea is to work with people who show the desire to start their professional career in a specific activity and whose personal characteristics match the requirements of said activity but who, due to their circumstances, are unlikely to find a place in the job market and require a longer period of learning and adaptation in order to take up a job in the ordinary market.

At an interview, different aspects of the person will be assessed in relation to their employability, subsequently providing them with the different resources necessary to improve their chances of finding a job (training, job seeking techniques, work contract, etc.) and starting their personal journey towards insertion in the working world.

  • Evaluation of their professional profile and diagnosis of the job or service required.
  • Drawing up of a personal plan for job insertion.
    • Job guidance
    • Personal information
    • Design of the plan to be followed
    • Implementation and development of the proposed road map
  • Training prior to accessing the job,
  • Support in finding the appropriate job opportunities,
  • And, once obtained, intensive support in the work situation and subsequent permanent monitoring with a view to keeping them in their jobs.
  • From the Gureak Group we offer companies a series of services to encourage supported employment and facilitate the incorporation of people with disability. These services are co-funded 45% by the European Social Fund and 55% by the Basque Government Department of Justice, Employment and Social Security.
  • Employment information and assessment on the legal and economic benefits of each contracting formula in regard to observance of the LISMI Law on the Social Integration of People with Disability.
  • Analysis of positions and search for opportunities for people with disability in companies.
  • Selection of candidates and presentation of those most suited to the job.
  • Training and accompaniment in their positions of the selected person with disability
  • Information and exchange sessions with company staff in regard to the concept of integrating workers with disability.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of the insertion throughout the duration of the contract.
  • Integral response to your obligation to contract workers with disability.
  • Assessment of companies in regard to the potential measures required to improve their Social Corporate Responsibility.

Companies that take on people with disability will not only receive economic subsidies; doing so will also influence their Social Responsibility and make them an example of collaboration with the social integration of people with disability.

The GUREAK Group flexibly and effectively solves your staff requirements by means of its large selection of people available to work, helping you to recruit the people most suited to your vacancies, taking charge of adapting the person to the position in the early days and permanently monitoring them, advising you on everything you should know in regard to the economic advantages of hiring people at risk and who have difficulties finding a job. Also:

  • We will make a candidate pre-selection free of charge for any staff requirements at your company.
  • You will be provided with people who are appropriately selected and trained.
  • They will meet their productivity targets from their first day of work.
  • They will improve the public image and social recognition of your company.
