50 ANNIVERSARY
GUREAK was created in 1975 by Atzegi to respond to a social need and promoting the right to work for people with intellectual disabilities. In these five decades, that initiative that arose from the concern of a group of parents of people with disabilities has become a solid and diversified social economy group, with a team of more than 6,000 people, and with a business model of social and labour inclusion that is a benchmark in Europe.
In 2025 GUREAK celebrated its 50th anniversary with its sights set on the challenges of the future and on the people in its team, made up of more than 6,000 people, 83% of whom have a disability.

04 | SUSTAINABILITY AND IMPACT
In the fourth and final episode, Asier Vitoria, CEO of Gureak, Leire San José, professor at the UPV/EHU, and Iñigo Albizuri, global public relations manager at Mondragon Corporation, examine the concepts of sustainability, impact, and social economy in the context of Gureak and conclude this sonic legacy by projecting its inclusion model into the future.

In the third chapter, Jon Ander Arzallus, Director of Innovation at Gureak, and Sabin Azua, President of Eusmex, analyse why diversification is a key element of Gureak's inclusion model and why competing against the tide in demanding markets is also a substantial part of the model. They also discuss how to get companies in Gipuzkoa to join the inclusion challenge.
02 | PRIORITISING PEOPLE WITH THE GREATEST NEED FOR SUPPORT
In the second chapter, Ainhoa Askasibar, director of Gureak Itinerary, Álvaro Iruin, doctor of the Health Management Unit of the Mental Health network of Gipuzkoa, and Francisco Pedraza, general director of Lanbide, describe one of the keys to the Gureak model: prioritising the people with the greatest need for support. They explain why attending to this priority implies offering a variety of resources and formulas for social and work inclusion, which in turn requires networking with key agents in the territory and integrated management by GUREAK.
